My last post to this blog was in the middle of the pandemic. A lot has changed.
I’ve moved house AGAIN.
I’ve separated from my husband.
I was in a car accident.
I had a cancer removed from my forehead.
I’m 9 months pregnant.
So yeah I haven’t played The Sims or posted anything in some time. I even stopped playing D&D as the stress was just too much. The only game I have consistently played for a significant amount of time is Wolvden.
I was looking for a game that I could easily pick up and put down during the lead up until I give birth, and then play during night feedings establishing a routine (might be optimistic there heh). A game I can pick up and put down easily. The Sims is perfect. Unfortunately another thing that has happened since 2021 is my crappy laptop had a meltdown, and I bought a new one.
I wasn’t concerned about my Sims 4 Legacy, as I swear I had backed up the save to USB (I didn’t), and at the very least the family was backed up to the Exchange (they weren’t). I had backed up the document that I was using to keep score, but that is useless without the save. It seems Aster’s last wave to the camera was in fact a wave goodbye.
All is not lost. I managed to save a copy of the Legacy Lot to the exchange, so I can use it in future games. I also managed to save one special Legacy sim to the Exchange, so I have a sim for my next game sorted.
I’m really thankful for this blog. Not too many people happen by this blog, not too many looking for Sim stories, not in the day of YouTube Let’s Plays and Twitch, so it really feels like my little part of the internet. I love that the Grauerwolfe Legacy, if incomplete at gen 3 (as is my modus operandi) exists somewhere, in the timeless expanse of the web. The only other place I blog about what I’ve been doing in a game is the Unofficial Bioware Fan Forums where I blog about my Dragon Age playthroughs. Given how the Dragon Age Keep looks like it might be on the chopping block, and the thread where I post what I do each play session is shared with countless others, AND I have lost most of the screenshots I have taken of my characters having them stored on non permanent imaging servers – this place feels like mine. It feels permanent. And even if the blog itself might not last forever, the ability to move screenshots and posts elsewhere is far more under my control than it would be elsewhere.
And even though only a few visit here, who cares in the end. I play The Sims for me. And for those of you subscribed for Sims 4 Legacy content, there is a new game underway you might enjoy reading about in the very near future.
