Almost A Month!

So I actually managed to last about 3 weeks not buying Monster High (who’d have thought I could) and last week I drove over to TRUs on a hunch that they may have restocked with some ghouls I didn’t have yet. I came home with both I Love Fashion Frankie and Abbey, Draculaura with her Powder Room and Ghoulia with her Scooter. All four dolls are awesome in their own way – Frankie and Abbey look edgy with their offbeat make-up, Draculaura looks really cute and you have to love Count Fabulous in a robe. The stand out of the four to me though is Ghoulia:

She’s so cool I don’t know where to begin.

  1. The headlight is an eyeball
  2. The front wheel axle thing is a skeletal hand
  3. Those boots!
  4. Helmet for Sir Hoots-A-Lot
  5. Kick stand of bones
  6. Brain seat
  7. Cup holder
  8. Those boots!!

Cons?

  1. No Slow Moe doll included
  2. ???

The random cherry design is not normally associated with Ghoulia but I like it, something different to look at than the dripping blood and brains she’s always paired with. I have to say I loved the scooter so much I put it in my display cabinet. That’s right, I have no room left in that cabinet, but I *made* room for Ghoulia and her scooter.

I love her green lips. Her backpack has a skeletal hand sticking out the side too, intended to be used as a zipper.

In more MH news, SDCC Scarah Screams and Hoodude Voodoo made their way to me today – and if you count Hoodude that brings my total of Monster High dolls to 93. Getting closer to the big 100.

Preggers Midge

Been rather under the weather and haven’t felt up to much, but today I felt a smidgen better so decided to *shock and horror* clean out the spare room (room full of boxes of stuff). I only got a little bit of the way in but eventually, this room will be my new doll room. Hopefully this means I’ll be less stuck for space. A little bit less stuck for space. Anyways, it will take a few weeks to get everything cleared out/ebayed (a lot of stuff belongs to the partner too) but I’m just happy to have made some headway on it.

Also my updated checklist for Monster High has now grown with the boom of releases:

  • Skull Shores 5 pack
  • CAM Vampire and Gargoyle, Puma and Ghost
  • Ghouls Rule
  • Scary Tales
  • Robecca Steam
  • Venus McFlytrap
  • Scarah Screams and HooDude Voodoo
  • I Heart Fashion Abbey and Frankie
  • Naked Frankie, Draculaura, Cleo, Duece, Lagoona and Abbey
  • Scooter Ghoulia
  • Powder Room Draculaura
  • Coffin Bean Draculaura and Roadster Draculaura (lol to both of these)
  • Monster High playset
Of course, they’ve also announced RM Clawdeen, Ghouls Rule Abbey and Headless Headmistress Bloodgood at SDCC so far! I’m hoping Wydona Spider is next announced personally, I’ll kill for a spider Monster High.
But…enough about my doll want list and my room project, it’s about time I got around to introducing someone:
Happy Family Midge. I am sorry it took so long – I was waiting on some maternity clothes with a Halloween theme to dress her in, but when they arrived they didn’t fit as promised. I wish I could sew, I really do. Anyways, my particular Midge was second hand but in great condition. She came with a crib, bath tub some babie accessories like bottles and toys and two babies.
My Midgey has twins! I suspect these babies are actually from the pediatrician Barbie in the same Happy Family line. Not complaining too much, but it does mean I wouldn’t mind tracking down the correct baby eventually.
Controversially, as I read on sources on the interwebs, Preggers midge was first released without a wedding ring! Shocking stuff I know, everyone knows you can’t be pregnant unless you’re married. Also her first run boxes didn’t include cardboard cut-outs of her husband! The horror! She was pulled from shelves because she promoted teen pregnancy. Riiight. Anyways, my Midge at least was a second release, as she has a wedding band. Phew!
I will admit, I have never been pregnant so I can’t really be sure…but I don’t think this is very appropriate foot wear. Someone tell me my ebay seller got these mixed up as well. I think these uncomfortable looking bright pink atrocities are the most offensive thing about Happy Family Midge.
Jokes and snark aside, I probably would look into getting more from this line. I would love the grandparents, and the little boy Ryan and the older version of Nikki. Don’t want Alan though, not very fond of his dopey grin (I think I’ve said that somewhere in this blog before.) My Midge will be a proud Divorcee. And she’s happy about it.
Teen pregnancy my a$#.

Violet and Clover

Ante made it here safely over the weekend, was promptly re-named Violet and her sister Darjeeling claimed Clover.

I’m ever so grateful for all the lovely warm clothes Miri and Wendy sent along, as none of the clothes I have bought for the pair have arrived yet so both were stuck for things to wear.  Violet’s wig is lovely and suits her perfectly which is great, because their wigs haven’t arrived either! I think I’ll let her keep this one and Clover can have her choice of the others when they arrive.

The pixie siblings have taken to hanging out at the Coffin Bean (my desk) drinking their favourite thick shakes and listening to those strange Monster High dolls talk about “fearleading” and “Justin Biter”. What ever those things are. The pixies think they sound super boring I’m sure.

They’ve taken a special liking to Harriet, who is the smallest BJD here next to them. Harriet’s favourite book, The Secret Garden, was a present from Miri and Wendy…last year I think? They much prefer this book than the ones those teen monster’s call “Biteology homework”.

Thank-you again Wendy and Miri for being such cool people (and pixies) and selling me Violet! She’s fitting right in!
